Wild Horses - Layer Breakdown
Much as with traditional forms of painting, such as oils or watercolour, building a work layer on layer allows you to achieve a suitable or fairly realistic image. I use separate layers, like washes or glazes, at different opacities, colours and textures to create a digital image. This also allows a great deal of flexibility to alter, change or correct elements. In addition, by showing snapshots as layers are added, it is useful as a quick, though abbreviated, way to explain how an image was created.
